Got a Question About Working with Us?
You probably have quite a few things you’d like to know about both the entertainment industry and signing up with a talent agency.
We totally understand, so we’ve listed some of the most frequently asked questions right here.
We are pretty sure we have covered it all but if we have missed anything, then drop us an email at email@example.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
How do I apply?
Please email your name, age, location and a clear photograph to firstname.lastname@example.org
Due to the number of applications we receive, we will only have time to reply to those we feel are right for the agency. We will reply to successful applicants within 10 days.
Do I need professional pictures?
Yes, you will need a minimum of one head shot. Additional photos are a bonus. Please make sure you own the copyright of any photos you submit. It is important children look natural on their photos. Avoid hats, sun glasses, big hair accessories and make up. Photos must be in colour. Babies & toddlers 3 years and under do not need a professional photo.
Is there a joining fee?
There is no fee for registering with RJ Management. However, we do charge a £35 per annum website and admin fee. This website & admin fee is subject to a 30 day cooling off period. The children's webpage profiles are password protected, for the safety of the child, and will be viewed by vetted clients only.
What is an agent?
In the entertainment industry, an agent acts as your representative when dealing with potential employers. Your Agent works on your behalf to make sure that you receive the best possible rates of pay, to organise contracts and child licences and to make sure that all the conditions and guidelines are met.
In return, your agent takes a commission out of the wage they have negotiated for you. This commission can range between 20% and 30% depending on the type of work. It should be remembered that the agent is NOT the employer but they work on your behalf to obtain the best for you, by way of obtaining work and negotiating the terms and conditions of that work.
What is Spotlight?
Spotlight is the UK's most popular casting directory. Spotlight offers a wider range of briefs, for commercials, TV and film. Only artists
with Spotlight accounts can be submitted on these briefs. Spotlight membership costs £103 per annum, this payment is made directly to
Spotlight. Money will not be taken for 30 days from setting up your account. To set up your Spotlight account please contact
the agency on 07907262230.
The industry is highly competitive and realistically, without being on Spotlight it is a lot harder to secure castings. Many casting directors find
the artists they wish to see solely by looking on Spotlight.
Spotlight is a compulsory requirement for anyone age 4 years+ when joining the agency.
Where and when will castings be?
The majority of castings take place in Central London or Manchester. So, you must be happy to travel for castings and work. There is
little notice given when selected for a casting, often you will receive details the day before. We will expect you to attend the casting if
selected. Therefore, it is very important to keep the agency updated on your availability. We ask you to carefully consider whether you are happy to travel at short notice BEFORE you apply to the agency.
The large majority of the work is during the week and can be during school time. There is very little work done at weekends.
Work and castings can be at any time. For this reason parents should be prepared to take their children out of school if necessary.
Are you a sole agent & is there a contract?
RJ Management is a sole agency. Once you accept your place, you will be asked to sign a 12 month contract.
Do you take commission?
Yes, we take:
25% from any work within the UK
30% from any work outside the UK
20% from any Theatre work.
Can often will I get work?
This is the million dollar question. We can offer no guarantees in regards to how often you will work. We do not know what work will come up from one day to the next, what our clients will want to advertise or what age groups or size that they will require.
However, we choose our talent carefully, resulting in a large percentage of our actors and models obtaining work!
Can you offer guarantees?
No Agency can offer guarantees. We do however promote every person on our books to the best of our ability and we will put every individual forward for all jobs that they are suitable for. Ultimately, our clients have the final say on who gets the job.
We are however, a small Agency and we only take on talent who we strongly believe will get work.
